Junior Programs

Saturday Junior Lessons
Lessons for junior members of DPTC of all levels: Beginner/Intermediate level lessons take place from 12 noon to 1pm; advanced from 1pm to 2pm. These lessons are free to all junior members who have paid their membership. This event is pro supervised. Lessons begin on April 30 and continue for 8 weeks until June 18.

Junior After-School Program
The After School Program offers 8 hours of group lessons for junior members ages 7 to 17 (1 hour group lessons per week for 8 weeks).  Lessons are held every Tuesday from May 3 through June 21:

Novice players – 4 pm to 5 pm. This program focuses on eye-hand coordination, footwork and balancing drills, grip instruction, learning all the basic strokes, court etiquette and building a love for the game.

Intermediate/Advanced – 5 pm to 6 pm.  This program focuses on advanced skills, advanced footwork and fitness drills, court strategy, and continued love for the game of tennis. 

Our junior programs offers qualified tennis instructors, on and off the court drills and activities, and the use of a fully equipped tennis club equipped with a drink machine with healthy alternatives. The Tennis Director for this program is Kent Yee, who has been a part of DPTC for over 20 years, first as a junior member and now as the Club Pro. These lessons cost $45 and are available to all Junior members of DPTC ($95 total with membership included).

After School Junior Social Round Robin
An open event for all junior members of DPTC between the ages of 10 and 18, run every Friday in May and June between 4:00 and 6:00PM. A great way to make friends, meet other members, and play tennis in a fun and structured setting. Light snacks provided.

Summer Tennis Camp
A co-ed tennis camp for ages 7-17 years, runs daily from 9:00AM to 3:30PM at Dentonia Park Tennis Club. The program includes beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. It focusses on improvement of basic skills and strategy. The camp will be directed and organized by Kent Yee, a certified tennis instructor. Camp fees are $210 per session, with a two week enrollment special of $360, if the application is received before May 31, 2011. After-Care is available from 3:30 - 5:30 pm for those who request it at a cost of $10.00 hr./ camper, payable to the end of the week. Planned sessions are as follows:

Session 1: July 4 - July 8 
Session 2: July 11 - July 15
Session 3: July 18 - July 22
Session 4: July 25 - July 29
Session 5: August 8 - August 12*
Session 6: August 15 - August 19
